3D Animatics

EVOLUTIONIZING FILMS WITH 3D ANIMATICS
The development of motion picture complexity has been driven by a continuing technological evolution, ignited and manipulated by human initiative and inventiveness. It has afforded filmmakers the opportunity to practice a more complex craft to tell more complex stories. As film history has progressed, so too has the sophistication of filmmaking technology, from cameras, to sound recording, to editing. Animatics is another such field where technology has percolated to such an extent that it can reveal every shot in the scene predicting the composition achieved by actual camera lenses.
Welcome to the new age animatics where the animator need to just specify an object’s spatial stating point and ending point and the computer automatically fills in the frames in-between with gradual motion. With some final tweaks while adding soundtrack and voice-overs everything gets properly synchronised.
3D previsualization or rather 3D animatics was first used in 1988 by animator Lynda Weinman for Star Trek V: The Final Frontier creating a primitive 3D motion of the Starship Enterprise based on feedback from Director William Shatner. A fully animated digital animatic of a seven-minute sequence for the Harrison Ford action movie Clear and Present Danger solved a variety of production problems encountered when the location in Mexico became unavailable. This was the first fully produced use of computer previsualization that was created for a director outside of a visual effects department and solely for the use of determining the dramatic impact and shot flow of a scene.
ShowboatEntertainmet.com, a pioneer in 3D animatics for more than eight years, has unmatched video perfection of the storyboard and the soundtrack. The illustrator and director is allowed to work out freely any script and timing issues that may exist with the storyboard saving time, energy and cost of the production. With in-house artwork, 2D & 3D animation, edit and full-service audio post and casting, Showboat offers a complete solution to 3D animatics.
Established in 2004, Sun Animatics has gained popularity on the choice of themes for animation films and has been lauded for its creative storytelling and technology. Based in Bangalore, Jadoo Works boasts of magical imagery through animatics bringing to life the surreal backgrounds and mystical environments.
The innovative use of these uniquely cinematic tools enable greater narrative clarity and character reliability. 3D animatics reflects a clear evolutionary step, driven by human faculty, in the ability of the animatics to tell a full-length feature animation story.
